Turn Down The Heat!

Salt Lake has been HOT and is breaking records. The papers are warning seniors to stay out of the 100-plus degrees, Saying, "nothing good can happen from this." The heat is taking its toll on some of the PCRs and they are forgetting to stay as a group and some end up riding several miles by themselves. While just two weeks ago, Prez. Hale, Mr. MBA and BIG MAN rode to Coalville for a little breakfast and BIG MAN was left alone to fix a flat and had to ride from Hogback Summit all the way to Coalville by himself.  On the way back it was SO HOT, Mr. MBA thought BIG MAN's legs turned into "chicken legs" and started calling him, "BIG BIRD" and BIG MAN thought for a minute he was BIG BIRD and turned YELLOW for a week.

So what do you do??? Head to the mountains, drink lots of water, stay cool and STAY TOGETHER!

Yesterday's TATS from Prez. Hale was EPIC and is worth the read, especially for some of the riders who were not paying attention. Names will not be mentioned, PB and Dr. O.  The poem is entitled "Desiderata", (Latin, for something needed) which is the case for the PCRs sometimes.

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Beat The Heat - But Don't Lose Your Keys!

July is here along with HOT temps, upper Millcreek Canyon is open and Fritters are Frying. YES, this week the PCRs took to the mountains to cool off and boy did they have FUN. The B-Day Boy, Dave Clawson, took the BIG MAN on a midweek ride to Dog Lake. They didn't see any dogs, but they did run into Bullwinkle and BIG MAN is still shaking as he wasn't really paying attention, (go figure) and came around the bend and there he was. WHOO!.... HIT THE BRAKES!

Saturday, was the first PEOA loop ride and yes, it was a little chilly to start with, (47 degrees) but Dr. O and BIG MAN tried to keep the older brains of PB (Scott Jensen) and Prez. Hale focused on conversation and not the cold. Did it work??? Not sure, but the two of them sure did a lot of talking. Prez. Hale wanted to start the loop in Kamas so he could take home a half dozen fritters and you'll see below why it might have been a difficult task to ride them back to PEOA. The newest member of the PCRs, PB fulfilled one of four requirements to become a full fledged member by driving, but lost his keys.......... WHAT??? How are we going to get home. Who invited this guy??  As PB was climbing under the car to see why they were not where he left them, BIG MAN ventured inside the Chevron store and asked if anyone had turned in a set of keys. The soon to be embarrassed, Linda, said, "YES, I found them on the ground and thought I better bring them in for safe keeping."  BIG MAN was so happy he walked behind the counter and gave her a BIG kiss on the cheek. (The pictures didn't capture the true story, but don't hire Prez. Hale to be the camera man)

TATS was given by the BIG MAN, which is worth repeating unlike most of what he says.

LIVE LIFE LARGE
Accumulate Memories, Not Things!

Have a GREAT July 4th week and be SAFE!
