Medal Count - Curb/2, Lloyd/0

As the Olympics come to a close, we hope all of you are motivated to get off the couch and get to the road/mountains. Sometimes watching these athletes, we have a false belief that we might be able to do some of their minor tricks, and as you will see, it takes training. However, that training has to come with a little PAIN to become the BEST! We just hope the equipment will hold up!

Yesterday, Professor Glauser extended an invitation to join him for the "FREEDOM RIDE" Not riding a lot this year, yet, Wood accepted the invitation. The FREEDOM he found was a NEW training method where he would trade off having the other three riders pull him. One of the riders said, "Now I know what it feels like to be 200 lbs over weight" and then realized that Wood needed a little TOUGH LOVE and turned into that bully trainer from The Biggest Loser. 58 miles later, Wood finished the ride in TEARS :'( and headed home for a hot shower and some ibuprofen.

Super Bowl Weekend requires a WORKOUT

Since the weather is not the best for riding, a few of us took to the mountains for a little snow shoeing. Almost as fun as riding, but either way, Wood still can't pace himself. With a couple of honorary PCRs, we took Anna Paula and George, who had NEVER seen snow for a real ride.

A hardy breakfast is required when hiking with the HALE BROTHERS...

Riding with the PCRs is truly an adventure as we NOT only ride for exercise, but NEW vistas. This week some rode to the mountains while others to the shores. No matter where it is you ride, ALWAYS STOP and SMELL THE ROSES!

2014 - Ride In The NEW YEAR!

Well, it's hard to believe another year has come and gone. We have all put a few more miles on the bikes, repaired flats, recovered from falls, some rode LOTOJA and others enjoyed training for LOTOJA. Whatever the case, I was reminded of a quote from Charlie Chaplin today as I went on a New Year Ride ALONE...

"A tramp, a gentleman, a poet, a blogger, a dreamer, a lonely fellow, always is hopeful of romance, adventure and YIPPY SKIPPIES with the PCRs"

 Leaving HELL

 Riding toward HEAVEN

1st STOP - NO Bike Buddies

You never know what you're going to see when you ride with the PCRs

2nd STOP - Still NO Bike Buddies

Finally STOP - NO BIKE BUDDIES  "What's The Deal'?

Losses for Both Teams & Bikers

Today was a tough day for both local football teams. Where Utah & BYU experienced the agony of defeat, Hale and Wood felt the pain of trying to mountain bike on road bikes. After a great first half workout riding up the 4 packs of Emigration Oaks, Hale thought he would try a little mountain biking on the way down and went off the road into the rocks and once again made noises that scared the wild animal for miles. As Wood turned around to see this crazy man hit the side of the mountain, (note some of it still on his glasses) he too came to know the rough ride of rocks and what it's like NOT to get your foot out when you come to a stop.

KEEPING THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN and ON THE PAVEMENT makes for a much smoother ride.

Post Halloween Ride - Frightening

The daylight hours are getting shorter; temperatures are getting colder, and while trees shed their leaves, our waistlines, once again, begin to expand.  Honest!  The so-called “little man” confessed he gained 8 pounds since he quit training (it doesn’t show).  Those of us who are larger are secretly gleeful of his plight.

This week most of the PCRs took off at 8:30--the duly appointed time.  B. Lloyd, however, needed additional beauty rest, so the team violated the 5 minute rule and waited for what seemed like hours for him to make his grand appearance.  As usual, he looked GQ.  While waiting for him Val caught up with the group and chastised us for not waiting for him.  We immediately responded that the 5 minute rule applied, but to our chagrin, he was only 4 minutes late.  Then he waited, again for what seemed like hours on end, for the great B. Lloyd to appear.  (B. Lloyd, you pay when you are late.)

We survived the cold, cars, potholes and hills and made it to the mouth of Little Cottonwood.  Along the way there were many interruptions for the law abiding riders, such as stoplights and stop signs, that only appear to mean the opposite to our want-to-be leader Wood--he just blows through them and leaves behind those of us who honor the law to eat his dust.  Bruner kept the pace at cardiac arrest speed (when is old age going to catch up with that dude?).  It was a great time to spend with the boys and regress, in some instances literally, and other vicariously, to the antics of early teenage boys.

Stay fit my friends; spring is around the corner.

PS - Even though Halloween is officially over, our ride was full of frightening encounters... You must keep your eyes open at all times to avoid DANGER!
