May = Mother's Day & National Bike Month

May is the month that brings smiles as we celebrate bikes and Moms. It's hard not to feel good when you think of these two things together. It was Mom who helped put the playing cards on your bike to create a noise like a motorcycle and she was there to wipe away your tears when you fell and skinned your knees. Have you ever wondered what Moms should be paid, for all the work they did to raise, feed, teach and take care of you? (Read More)  Hope you all had a GREAT Mother's Day!

A couple of the PCRs headed to their favorite spot last week to pick-up a car load of the famous Kamas fritters. As you will see below, they are BIG and they brought 9 home to the hood, which filled the entire back seat. The goal was to ride to Upper Provo Falls, (Read More) but due to snow Prez. and Big Man fell short of their goal by three miles. From the look of things, unless they bring in the snow blowers, it might be awhile until the road will be open. The 40+ miles were traffic free, but they did run into a couple of locals that were also sad that Beaver Creek Ranch was closed.

Only you can prevent forest fires and YES, there is DANGER when this rider is around!

So much for being "private"
He, too, was a little upset the Ranch was closed
I'm getting hungry for a FRITTER!

Sometimes it takes a while for them to warm-up to the Big Man

All Things Seem Possible In May

The world's favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May
- Edwin Wayne Teal -

May is finally here and YES, you can start wearing shorts on a ride. Who doesn't love riding in May?  There is still snow on the Utah mountains, people are out working in their gardens and golfing, you are hoping you will be accepted and fit enough to ride LOTOJA and if you stop, look and listen, you will some amazing sights.

This past week was a GREAT week for the PCRs as you will see below. Remember, be like a flower and turn your face to the sun.

April is About Sun, Warmer Weather & Bs

Some might say that April is and will always be the BEST month of the year. The sun starts to shine more often, the temperatures get a little warmer and the Bs start to appear, that is B-Days for both the Prez and MBA. Prez made it a third year in-a-row to Alta, while riding with a balloon letting the world know he is still a kid at heart. MBA, took the group on one of his favorites, which he authored, 3 Gate. As some of you will attest, getting older is not for wimps. First, you start to lose your eyesight, then your hearing and what is the third one? MBA, already is being challenged with the third aging category and showed up all excited to lead the peloton on his B-Day ride, without his helmet....

However, the real reason some say April is the best is because: (Read More)

All I Ever Needed To Know About Life, I Learned From The Easter Bunny

Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket
Walk softly and carry a big carrot
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
There’s no such thing as too much candy
All work and no play can make you a basket case
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits
Some body parts should be floppy
Keep your paws off other people’s jellybeans
Good things come in small sugar-coated packages
The grass is always greener in someone else’s basket
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
To show your true colors – you have to come out of your shell
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey

Anyone seen my helmet?
I swear, Prez Hale was just with us????

Another Epic SLC Marathon Ride

Last weekend was another EPIC week in the sporting world as Tiger Woods won his 5th Masters having one of the greatest comebacks in the history of golf and Scott Wood (aka Big Man) rode another SLC marathon, as a bandit/deadhead, and was not thrown in jail. Both great athletes had a difficult time sleeping in anticipation of Saturday's events. The weather for the golfers was a little nicer than it was for the bikers, but we know who had more fun. As the bikers woke, there was text discussion as whether the snow/rain would keep some from a 6:00AM start. The stouthearted venturesome riders all met at Prez's wife's home and were delighted to see a NEW PCR joining the group, Lindsey "Hot Legs" Nesbitt. Yes, Hale The Younger had been busy out recruiting, due to getting tired of riding with his OLDER, much SLOWER brother.

Hot Legs, a name given to Lindsey by her sponsor, left all the old men in the dust as she realized it was going to be a long 26.2 miles riding with these geezers. The senior geezer, Mr. T. got lost before they even made it to the starting line and said he wanted to get a head start. So he road around the group before the starting gun, which is an automatic DQ, just so he could say he was in first place all the way to Memory Grove. The Peloton finally met up with him at Highland High School. What some people will do when they get OLD.....

"No Email" Ludlow, wore a rain hat, which some of the bikers had never seen and hope to never see again. KOT was worried when Mr. T. fell behind the group and yelled to Big Man, "Tony's falling behind", which Big Man recited the pirate's code, "You fall behind, You get left behind".  Big Man, after chasing Hale The Younger and Hot Legs the entire race was determined to finish first and had to make several dangerous moves last minute around some of the runners to claim his victory.

Some of the rules of the road and the PCR whistle were introduced to Hot Legs so she too didn't get lost for post-ride pictures and the BEST part of the race, a visit to Les Madeleines for Kouing Amanns. (THEY ARE TO DIE FOR, THANKS PREZ!)

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear!

Yes, riding with the PCRs is a lot of FUN....

Does anyone know where Mr. MBA is?

St. Paddy's Day Celebration Ride

"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
                                                                            --Irish Blessing--

Saturday, was the PCR's second St. Paddy's Day celebration ride.  "It was a weeee bit chilly--about 22 degreeees without taking into consideration the wiiiindchill factor."  And it got worse shortly after beginning the trip because they did not have the benefit of the hot air at their backs when Big Man took a U turn and never caught up with the group until they hit the midpoint of the ride. While many of their bodily extremities were frozen, their hearts were warmed, and those of Starbuck's customers sank in horror, as they sang a rousing chorus of "Oh Danny Boy"! (Click to Hear More)
"May you liiiive to ryde your bikes 100 yeeears, and one extra to repent."

Big Man, stay with the group.
You don't always know the way

I Don't Ride My Bike To Win Races

Have you ever asked yourself the question, "Why Do I Do This?"  Why do I get up earlier in the morning when it's dark, cold, sometimes wet or snowy and get on a bike? Does your wife get tired of you telling her, I'll be home in a couple of hours and it turns into 4-5 hours. Yes, you all ride for different reasons. However, if you stop riding where do you get your therapy, feeling just fine in eating an entire Kamas Chevron fritter, stopping for a hot chocolate and lost of icing on a cinnamon roll at Great Harvest?

SO, continue to ride, be safe, and hope Spring comes soon.

Stop and smell the cinnamon.... :-)

 What's wrong with this picture?

I promise it's not going to rain,
BUT nobody said anything about SNOW... :-o
