Does Riding Enhance a Marriage?

PCRs

This post, for some, is a touchy subject. However, after last week's performance, or some might say, lack of by the BIG MAN, it is is something that needs to be talked about. As many of you may know, last week BIG MAN's BEAUTIFUL wife, Jodi was in NY. She and two other friends went back to do what girls do in NY to celebrate a 50th year old birthday of one of the LOVELY LADIES. While gone, Jodi asked the BIG MAN to do one thing, "DON'T LET THE FLOWER DIE, PLEASE!" BIG MAN was confident this would be a piece of cake. It rained most of the time Jodi was gone and when she came home, she was a little UPSET to say the least. "What have you been doing while I've been gone, just RIDING YOUR BIKE?"

BIG MAN, did ride his bike a couple of times. and feels like he is being falsely accused. "YES, I did water the flowers, I guess it was the heavy rain earlier in the week that caused the damage."

So, the Big Man would like to ask the PCRs to take a look at the flowers below and cast your vote. Was it the heavy rain, or too much biking that caused the damage?

Today's ride was the SunCrest loop, which is a favorite, but one you don't want to do early in the season. 62 miles, 4,700 feet later, the three lone riders made it back home. A younger PCR, who's name we will not mention, Cory chicken legs/butt Hawke, said, "there is no way you can do this in 4 hours." If it hadn't been for the three stops, pictures and interviews, The group would have made it. Oh, forget to mention that D.R. got a little tired of pulling the whole way. What a wimp...

Do we have GREAT Mountains or WHAT?

New Cafe that you need to try out..... Top of SunCrest

How many know where this location is? Sounds like a happening place

In conclusion, studies have shown that riding DOES enrich a marriage. Try riding with your spouse on a warm afternoon or early morning, (not too early). Don't be telling them how to shift or peddle faster, just ride next to them and remind them how lucky you are to have married them and LOVE THEM!  And if they don't want to ride with you, remind them that you are doing this for THEM, to stay in shape.... :-)

Lost & Found

Today the PCR’s originally ventured out to begin their ride in Coalville, up Echo Canyon then to Henefer.  We lost Mike Glauser because the entirety of his focus is on a book, which is still in the process of creation.  (At his advanced age we are worried that the accuracy of what actually happened over a year ago might also be lost.  But on the bright side, he will no doubt draw on his vastly creative mind and find more interesting gloss to put on the stories, unmoored by reality.)  But we found Mary, who joined us for a short while, but we lost her and Sexy Legs after the majority of us tired of the ride.  They rode further, no doubt for hours, and then went for a run: Total Insanity!

The most notable loss of the ride was when Big Man realized that he lost his shoes (really Scott?; of all the things you have to bring on a bike ride that are not commonly used/worn by normal people: a bike, a helmet, gloves, and sunglasses, you chose to forget your shoes, which about 100 percent of the people walking the face of planet earth wear!).  On the bright side, when he went back to find his shoes, the rest of the group found solace in his absence, but lost the original starting point, to accommodate his desire to rejoin us.  The solace was instantaneously lost when Big Man found the group after he found his shoes.

Dr. J lost his sense of humor and became defensive (maybe a little middle class guilt) when the group found out that he found a new BMW (complete with vanity license plates).  Some things will never be lost.  Such as the Little Man’s caustic sense of humor, which was evidenced by his attack on Hale’s lack of contribution to the state of his landscaping, his desire to be in the front of the pack, Sexy Leg’s seemingly eternal youthful and good looks, Big Man’s unstinting positive attitude and Hale’s envy of all the forgoing.  We continue to feel the loss of our Biking Brother Briggs, but we found comfort reflecting on fond memories of time spent with him riding our favorite routes.  We miss you Brother and hope you are smiling as you ride in the front of the pack.

Always stop and read the signs.... People spend good time and money for us to read these...
and you might learn something new.... :-)

Don't stop riding or you might turn into STONE!

13 Ways To Turn Every Ride Into An ADVENTURE!

These last few days were a first for some of us this year, 2 in 3 days..... YEA BABY!  Ride on Saturday and then a day off, (some took the day off literally) and then ride again on Monday. Mr. Tow Truck Hawke shared a recent Bicycling Magazine that had a headline that JUMPED off the cover. This addition was written with the spirit of the PCRs and we must always remember to make each ride A TRUE ADVENTURE.

"Let Your Bicycle Wander, and You Never Know What You'll Find - Except An Unforgettable Time"

1. Go with friends - - It's better.

2. Even if you never plan for anything, plan on getting lost.

3. Start at first light and end near or in dark.

4. Don't go out looking for adventure. Set out with the intention to accomplish something specific - but eager for whatever comes your way.

5. Once you've begun riding, choose a different way. New roads are better than good roads.

6. Monotony is an emergency.

7. But be patient on the boring roads.

8. Don't hesitate to stop and discuss directions. It's important that everyone agrees on just how lost you are.

9. Never turn around

10 . Stop for snack, a photo, a swim (dunk), or just stop.

11. MEET EVERYONE!

12. Enjoy it while it lasts, because even when it seems like it will never end, it never lasts long enough.

13. FINISH THE RIDE!

You Can't Buy Happiness, But You Can Buy A Bike and That's Pretty Close!

Have you ever had a week where it seems to rain at home, school and work? What do you do?  GO RIDE YOUR BIKE! Per the forecast for this morning, there was a short window to get in a most needed ride/therapy session. MAN, was this exactly what the doctor ordered or what? The scenery was great, the temperature was perfect and the tempo allowed the Big Man to summit a couple of the hills in 2nd place.  A stop at the local Great Harvest on the way back to fuel up with a cinnamon roll and chocolate milk and a visit to meet Prez Hale's Dad's best friend were truly icing on the cake.

7 To ?

When I was in 6th grade we played a very enjoyable game, as I’m sure all of you did, called 7 Minutes in Heaven. It was full of fun and excitement, it included cute girls, but included no hills. Today, some 48 years later, I was on a ride with Big Man and Prez Hale that Big Man founded and affectionately calls 7 to Heaven. It was no game and in no way did it resemble the fun game I played in 6th grade. As you know, when you ride with Big Man there is an adventure waiting around every corner and he is known for taking the road less traveled. It was no different today as we embarked on our journey to heaven at 6:30 am (I don’t like these guys enough to get up that early and still don’t know why I did), amidst threatening skies. There was a tip over, a chain derailment, and life lessons to be learned from both those occurrences, but none of us knew what they were. Oh well! The saddest thing of all was that we never made it to heaven! We were turned back due to gas cans. The thing I learned the most on my journey today is that there is a much easier way to get to heaven than following Big Man and the Prez up Emigration Canyon.

New Records for the Little Man & Little Woman

Today we celebrate new records for some of the PCRs. little man, who was forced to ride with Prez. Hale and Big Man at an earlier hour than he likes, rode his SLOWEST time ever to Big Mtn. He had to listen to Big Man's motivation speech that he heard at a tradeshow this week in Vegas from Steve Rizzo.

1st - Start your day by acknowledging those things you are grateful for (A Gratitude Attitude is key for Success)

2nd - Surround yourself with good feelings/laughter. It's important to not only work on the human being, but the HUMOR being (Good feelings are the fuel for motivation)

3rd  - ENJOY THE NOW...

The other record was set by the little woman....... WOW. Congrats Mary!

Let's just take it easy today, should we?

A Most Difficult Ride

Yesterday, as many of you PCRs know, was a ride that broke our heart monitors and made the entire body hurt. As we attended the funeral of our Captain My Captain (Kim Briggs), the memories were flooded with all the rides we have taken and our hearts, minds and souls longed for just one more. Kim, you were the glue and guidance that kept this crazy crew together.

Vicki, Tyler/Holly, Eric/Jamie and Jordan/Carly, know that your husband, dad and our best friend is greatly loved, admired and missed.

Yesterday morning the heavens were a little brighter as they welcomed Kim

Thanks to Prez Hale for putting this table together..... :-) & :'(
(Jodi was the decorator, which we badly needed)

Look who Kim is riding with now....
Hope there are bikes in Heaven??

No one could bring a BIGGER smile to Kim than Vicki

Ode to My Old Pardner

I’ve been missin’ you old pardner,
Just wishin’ I could turn back the clock,
The bunk house ain’t been the same since you left,
‘member how we used to talk?
Every day we used to laugh
‘bout family, work, and what came our way.
Sometimes we would curse our bad luck
For havin’ to work all day.

Lately my mind has begun to wander
            As it will sometimes do,
Runnin’ back along the days and times
And years I’ve worked with you.
And as I got to thinkin’
            'bout those hours of yesterdays,
It dawned on me that we’ve been                                  Down the road quite a ways.

Together we’ve serviced many great clients,
            And traveled round this earth
From St. George to London
It’s done nothing but add to my girth.
Our jobs have required much travel
            Each harder than the last.
With me totin’ my saddle and yours, too
A constant reminder that you da boss

If I came to the office disgusted,
Grumblin’ ‘bout the job I had,
All you had to do was threaten to fire me
Then things wouldn’t look so bad.
Then it was off to the golf course
            My clients ever so demanding
I could see you shakin’ your head in thought
That idiot could be the last man standing.

You ruled with an iron fist at J&H then Marsh.
You’ve earned the reputation of a task master.
From 9 to 3 you punched those doggies hard
Then off for a bike ride to work off the lard.
When Marsh management came callin'

            There was always tension in the air;
Straighten those pictures and clean those offices
Call Linda, she’s gotta cut my hair.

Monday mornin’ meetings were a must,
 and everyone had to attend.
That is ‘til Vicki called
Then we found out who was the real boss
Your family always came first
The rest of us could wait.
In the end we really didn’t care
One less meeting with you would save us all some hair.

We should have had an army
To finish all the work you gave us to do.
Though we grumbled and stayed up late,
It was your relentless barking that helped us get thru.
And now when you look in the mirror
At the old trail boss standin’ there,
Take comfort in knowin’,
You always led with a certain flair.

For 25 years you gave all you had to Marsh.
But now it’s time to ride on.
When you look back where you’ve been
Turn back ‘round and reach out to a new dawn.
So while we’re lookin’ at that image,
            Although we maybe won’t agree,
Here’s what that reflection
Standin’ up there means to me.

You’re my boss, my Pardner,
            And my very best friend,
Thanks for keeping me on the ranch
And the fun times ‘round each bend
But I’ve been thinkin’
Let’s meet in the old bunk house one more time.
I haven’t had a good laugh for awhile
And reminisce ‘bout ridin’ in our prime.

Love ya,
Taylor Wray  (Kim's Business Partner)
