Lost & Found

Today the PCR’s originally ventured out to begin their ride in Coalville, up Echo Canyon then to Henefer.  We lost Mike Glauser because the entirety of his focus is on a book, which is still in the process of creation.  (At his advanced age we are worried that the accuracy of what actually happened over a year ago might also be lost.  But on the bright side, he will no doubt draw on his vastly creative mind and find more interesting gloss to put on the stories, unmoored by reality.)  But we found Mary, who joined us for a short while, but we lost her and Sexy Legs after the majority of us tired of the ride.  They rode further, no doubt for hours, and then went for a run: Total Insanity!

The most notable loss of the ride was when Big Man realized that he lost his shoes (really Scott?; of all the things you have to bring on a bike ride that are not commonly used/worn by normal people: a bike, a helmet, gloves, and sunglasses, you chose to forget your shoes, which about 100 percent of the people walking the face of planet earth wear!).  On the bright side, when he went back to find his shoes, the rest of the group found solace in his absence, but lost the original starting point, to accommodate his desire to rejoin us.  The solace was instantaneously lost when Big Man found the group after he found his shoes.

Dr. J lost his sense of humor and became defensive (maybe a little middle class guilt) when the group found out that he found a new BMW (complete with vanity license plates).  Some things will never be lost.  Such as the Little Man’s caustic sense of humor, which was evidenced by his attack on Hale’s lack of contribution to the state of his landscaping, his desire to be in the front of the pack, Sexy Leg’s seemingly eternal youthful and good looks, Big Man’s unstinting positive attitude and Hale’s envy of all the forgoing.  We continue to feel the loss of our Biking Brother Briggs, but we found comfort reflecting on fond memories of time spent with him riding our favorite routes.  We miss you Brother and hope you are smiling as you ride in the front of the pack.

13 Ways To Turn Every Ride Into An ADVENTURE!

These last few days were a first for some of us this year, 2 in 3 days..... YEA BABY!  Ride on Saturday and then a day off, (some took the day off literally) and then ride again on Monday. Mr. Tow Truck Hawke shared a recent Bicycling Magazine that had a headline that JUMPED off the cover. This addition was written with the spirit of the PCRs and we must always remember to make each ride A TRUE ADVENTURE.

"Let Your Bicycle Wander, and You Never Know What You'll Find - Except An Unforgettable Time"

1. Go with friends - - It's better.

2. Even if you never plan for anything, plan on getting lost.

3. Start at first light and end near or in dark.

4. Don't go out looking for adventure. Set out with the intention to accomplish something specific - but eager for whatever comes your way.

5. Once you've begun riding, choose a different way. New roads are better than good roads.

6. Monotony is an emergency.

7. But be patient on the boring roads.

8. Don't hesitate to stop and discuss directions. It's important that everyone agrees on just how lost you are.

9. Never turn around

10 . Stop for snack, a photo, a swim (dunk), or just stop.

11. MEET EVERYONE!

12. Enjoy it while it lasts, because even when it seems like it will never end, it never lasts long enough.

13. FINISH THE RIDE!

You Can't Buy Happiness, But You Can Buy A Bike and That's Pretty Close!

Have you ever had a week where it seems to rain at home, school and work? What do you do?  GO RIDE YOUR BIKE! Per the forecast for this morning, there was a short window to get in a most needed ride/therapy session. MAN, was this exactly what the doctor ordered or what? The scenery was great, the temperature was perfect and the tempo allowed the Big Man to summit a couple of the hills in 2nd place.  A stop at the local Great Harvest on the way back to fuel up with a cinnamon roll and chocolate milk and a visit to meet Prez Hale's Dad's best friend were truly icing on the cake.

7 To ?

When I was in 6th grade we played a very enjoyable game, as I’m sure all of you did, called 7 Minutes in Heaven. It was full of fun and excitement, it included cute girls, but included no hills. Today, some 48 years later, I was on a ride with Big Man and Prez Hale that Big Man founded and affectionately calls 7 to Heaven. It was no game and in no way did it resemble the fun game I played in 6th grade. As you know, when you ride with Big Man there is an adventure waiting around every corner and he is known for taking the road less traveled. It was no different today as we embarked on our journey to heaven at 6:30 am (I don’t like these guys enough to get up that early and still don’t know why I did), amidst threatening skies. There was a tip over, a chain derailment, and life lessons to be learned from both those occurrences, but none of us knew what they were. Oh well! The saddest thing of all was that we never made it to heaven! We were turned back due to gas cans. The thing I learned the most on my journey today is that there is a much easier way to get to heaven than following Big Man and the Prez up Emigration Canyon.

New Records for the Little Man & Little Woman

Today we celebrate new records for some of the PCRs. little man, who was forced to ride with Prez. Hale and Big Man at an earlier hour than he likes, rode his SLOWEST time ever to Big Mtn. He had to listen to Big Man's motivation speech that he heard at a tradeshow this week in Vegas from Steve Rizzo.

1st - Start your day by acknowledging those things you are grateful for (A Gratitude Attitude is key for Success)

2nd - Surround yourself with good feelings/laughter. It's important to not only work on the human being, but the HUMOR being (Good feelings are the fuel for motivation)

3rd  - ENJOY THE NOW...

The other record was set by the little woman....... WOW. Congrats Mary!
